About the Instructor
Three decades of traditional Taekwondo practice, teaching, and scholarship
Michael Peintinger
Dr. Michael Peintinger has been training in Taekwondo for over 30 years. He holds a 3rd Dan in the Traditional Taekwondo Centers (TTC e.V., Germany), a 3rd Dan in World Taekwondo (Kukkiwon), and is ranked in the Changmookwan through Changmookwan Germany. He trains and teaches at Ahn Taekwondo Institute in Cincinnati, Ohio.
His background spans multiple lineages: the TTC tradition rooted in Grandmaster Kwon Jae-Hwa’s Chang Hon system, the Kukkiwon/WT tradition, and the Changmookwan. He has also trained with the ITF in Korea, bringing a rare breadth of experience across the major traditional lineages. He is the author of A Brief History of Taekwondo Patterns (Second Edition), with a foreword by Grandmaster Thomas Weiss, co-founder of the TTC.
Taekwondo is a family affair for the Peintingers — Michael’s wife and two daughters all train together at the Ahn Taekwondo Institute in Blue Ash, and the family regularly attends international seminars organized by the TTC.
Each year, Michael organizes a seminar at the Ahn Taekwondo Institute where Grandmaster Thomas Weiss travels from Germany to teach traditional Taekwondo — a unique opportunity for students in the Cincinnati area to train directly with one of the foremost masters of the art.
At Traditional Taekwondo Batavia, Michael offers private instruction in the complete traditional art — hand techniques and kicks, traditional forms (Hyong) in the lineage of Kwon Jae-Hwa, self-defense (Hosinsul), and sparring. Every session is tailored individually to the student’s level and goals.

What We Teach
All instruction is private and individual — no group classes. Each session is tailored to the student’s level, background, and goals.
Hand Techniques
Strikes, blocks, and their martial applications as preserved in the classical tradition. Emphasis on proper form, power generation, and real-world utility.
Kicks
The full classical repertoire — from front kick through spinning and jumping techniques. Taekwondo’s signature contribution to the martial arts, taught with precision and depth.
Traditional Forms (Hyong)
The patterns of movement that encode the complete art. Practiced in the tradition of Grandmaster Kwon Jae-Hwa — the living repository of classical Taekwondo technique.
Self Defense (Hosinsul)
Practical self-defense applications drawn directly from the classical techniques — effective, principled, and rooted in the art rather than disconnected from it.
“The ultimate aim of Taekwondo lies not in victory or defeat, but in the perfection of the character of its participants.”General Choi Hong Hi
